Cpt codes for annual gynecological exam
Hello,
My first time in your company !
I am very familiar with ICD and Cpt codes as I have taught them In a local college for ten years.I also do part time consulting for OBGYN practices...
Someone who does the billing for a client bills annual gyn exams with the age appropiate CPT codes plus G0101 .
I am somewhat puzzled with this as she was advised by another biller who does family practice billing as such.
Can you advise me if this is not double dipping ?
Regards,
Ulku Graham
Do a search!
Ulku:
Do a search for well-woman and preventive visit. You will find a lot of great information.
In fact, I have personally provided my perspective of billing well-woman exams and physical exams and can be found by searching "Charlene".

G0101
The pelvic and breast exam HCPCS code G0101 should not be carved out of the preventive, age appropriate CPT codes. It is included, if age appropriate.
G0101 is a component of a preventive medicine service
It is part of the age/gender appropriate exam and I do not recommend reporting it separately. I certainly wouldn't pay it if I were the patient!
G0101
We have a major employer in our area who offers reduced insurance costs to their employees through health incentives -- the employee who completes a certain number of incentives receives insurance cost reduction and more benefits. They list the adult physical, the well woman exam, and the digital rectal exams separately. The employee gets credit in the health points awards program for each and the physician receives reimbursement for the extra service provided to the female patient for the extra time and materials for the pelvic and PAP.
