Admin codes 90471 vs. 96372

I have been told that code 90471 should only be used for administrationn of vaccines, and that admin code 96372 shoud be used for other injections. Is this correct information? I have also been told that it is sometimes hard to get paid for 96372. Do you have any suggestions for getting payment?

re: Admin codes 90471 vs. 96372

That is correct. 90471 should be used for vaccines and 96372 for drugs.

You need to make sure when billing 96372 that you use a 59 modifier on the drug or it won't pay. UNLESS IT'S A GHP PRODUCT. GHP wants the modifier on the 96372. (GHP always likes to march by the beat of their own drum) Modifiers are not required for vaccinations.

Also, I can't say how other states, but MO Medicaid products will not ever pay the 96372 code.
