Non-contact tonometry or air-puff tonometry is included in general eye exam and not separately billed. It is checking Intraocular pressure (IOP)

Tonometry
IOP is part of 92XXX eye codes, Intermediate or Comprehensive: Documentation Guidelines for 92 Series Eye Exam and Treatment Codes (note: these guidelines are NOT the same as for E&M codes). There are no specific history or medical decision making guidelines for these codes. "Intermediate and comprehensive ophthalmological services constitute integrated services in which medical decision-making cannot be separated from the examining techniques used. Itemization of service components, such as slit lamp examination, keratometry, routine ophthalmoscopy, retinoscopy, tonometry or motor evaluation is not applicable.
There are 13 exam elements that must be documented to validate a coding level:
Testing visual acuity;
Gross visual fields;
Eyelids and adnexae;
Ocular motility;
Pupils;
Iris;
Conjunctiva;
Cornea;
Anterior chamber;
Lens;
Intra-ocular pressure;
Retina;
Optic disc .
Screening for Glaucoma (V80.1) or diagnosis documented in medical record.
