How do you code HRT (HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY) and Menopause? Do they need to be separate or do they have a combo code?
I have a patient that takes HRT and is menopausal and she has had a dexa scan but need to make sure that I code this right. Should I just use V07.4 or do I need to code also 627.7 or 627.9? Thanks

For a DEXA, use one of the 627.X codes. (symptomatic / asymptomatic, what ever is documented).

For the office visit you could add the V code, but I would make it secondary to the the menopause code, because the menopause is the indication for monitoring bone density (if no Dx of osteopenia / osteoporosis is indicated by the DEXA).
