Allergy injections and 99211
Help!
I have just begun billing for a practice in which pt billing was lax. We have pts that receive regular allergy injections from us and have been for years. Before I arrived the only code billed was 95117. We have now begun to bill 99211 and 95117. Some of our allergy pts have begun to complain about having to pay a copay in some instances(commercial policies) and some complain about being billed a nursing visit altogether. Is it wrong for me to bill this way?
allergy
Yes, allergy injections include professional service for injections. Code 99211 is inappropriate in this case. Bill for a visit only when a distinct and separate service is performed in addition to allergy injection (Medicare).

Thanks for clearing that up for me.
