A1C and Blood Sugar Test
Is there a way to bill and get paid for doing both an A1C test and a blood sugar test? The Dr. needs both to tell what the current level and the past levels are, but our ins co's are saying they won't be paid.
Thanks!
Can't be true
They are two different tests- are you sure you are not being denied the "blood letting" codes? You can only get paid for a venipuncture or a finger stick on the same day so if you do a HbA1c from a venipuncture and a finger stick glucose, you can bill both tests but only venipuncture.
cpt codes
Codes are 82948 and 83036 or 83037. They almost always deny the 82948. I talked to another biller, and they are suggesting to link one of the following Dx codes to get payments, V72.60 V72.61, V72.62.
Are you saying we should get these in addition to a venupuncture? The dr. doesn't bill the venupuncture, but if there's money in it....
You are so 1980's
the 82948 is obsolete- that was the days of visual glucose testing- blood drop on the strip, compare colors to the side of the bottle. Use 82962 for a fingerstick glucose. Don't use the V codes!
