Normal hearing results
My audiologist's all say that when a patient is referred to them for a diagnostic hearing evaluation they were taught that even if the results are normal they can use unspecified hearing loss 389.9. I disagree, if the results are normal and there are no signs or symptoms, they must use one of the V72.1 codes. If a child fails a school hearing evaluation but passes the one my audiologist does can they use unspecified hearing loss or should they use V72.11, encounter for hearing examination following failed hearing screening? Thanks
