Skull Based Coding Help

Hi,
I've had to learn neurosurgery coding on my own, and I thank God that there are forums where we can learn from others with more experience but I am curious to know when do we use the skull based surgery codes? I mean, I understand craniotomy/craniectomy codes with the burr holes and such, but I am just not sure on what to look for in the documentation to know that I am to use the skull based codes (approach/definitive). Is there anyone who knows of any such info that can help me learn when I'd use these codes over craniotomy/craniectomy? Thanks.

You can google it and there are Youtube videos that can explain it to you. I attend American Association of Neurological Coding classes every year. Tell your boss to send you. It's very informative.
