Thoracic and Lumbar Spine Reconstructions

One of our physicians did a CT with contrast of the Chest, Abdomen & Pelvis and then then did Lumbar and Thoracic Reconstructions while doing this procedure. (The pt had fallen out a window). The report reads Ct of Thoracic, Ct of Lumber at the end of the report for CT Chest, Abd & Pelvis.

Would I bill for Thoracic/Lumbar CT with contrast if this was done from recons? There is a separate order for procedure.

Thanks for your assistance as I have never encountered this before.

3D rendering with interpretation

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but its a start:

76376 3D rendering with interpretation and reporting of computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, or other tomographic modality; not requiring image postprocessing on an independent workstation

76377 3D rendering with interpretation and reporting of computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound, or other tomographic modality; requiring image postprocessing on an independent workstation

The physician provides concurrent supervision for processing of computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, or other tomographic modality with 3D manipulation of volumetric data sets and image rendering. The exact nature of the 3D manipulation is dependent upon the type of study being performed and the purpose of the diagnostic imaging. Image manipulation can include 3D image segmentation (i.e., removing skeletal structure to better visualize vascular structure followed by identifying and segmenting vessels for individual analysis and review), 3D volume and surface rendering, and 3D image restoration by deconvolution (i.e., unfolding the colon or straightening tortuous blood vessels). Work can include diagnostic imaging and surgical planning with 3D images, scientific modeling and simulation, and other work involving volumetric data. Report 76376 for 3D rendering not requiring image postprocessing on an independent workstation. Report 76377 when image postprocessing on an independent workstation is required.

Thoracic and Lumbar Spine Reconstructions

Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify my question. Can I bill a CT Thoracic and Lumbar Spine if the physician performed a CT Chest, Abdomen and Pelvis and Thoracic and Lumbar reconstructions also. I can't bill 76377 or 76376 alone. Can I bill for the CT Thoracic and Lumbar?

Thanks
Jen
