Manic Depressive Score
Having trouble finding what procedure code to use for Manic Depressive score?
Thanks for your help!
re: Manic Depressive Score
are you speaking of a 'test score' of some sort? or are you looking for a ICD9/10 or APA-DSM4 Dx Code?
not sure what you're asking for here?
re: Manic Depressive Score
The physician gave a Manic Depressive test online and I need to know how to bill for it or if we can bill for administering the test and the test results? What procedure (CPT) code would we use? ex: 96111, 96116. The patients dx was 312.9.
Thank you!
re: Manic Depressive Score
since it appears no one else has jumped in here, I'll offer what I THINK I know (so you'll want to check this out further with others - and perhaps the list moderator can weigh in here, too?) - - -
as far as I know there is NO 'procedure' code for any of the mental health Sx-scoring tools. There is little support or info for MH issues at all in CPT® coding. Which would seem to leave you with either one of the E&M assessment/evaluation codes to use (dependent on whether the Clt has been seen previously by someone in your agency w/in the past 3 yrs), OR, one of the E&M Service codes (e.g.. 99213, etc). You don't say if this was a PCP, or a MH physician - tho' if a PCP (312.9 is not a typically 'covered' Dx code for MH prescribers), you're likely going to have to just include the screening/scoring in with your 96119 contact, without any ability to code/bill anything 'extra' for the use of the online scoring tool.
re: Manic Depressive Score
Yes, this is for a PCP (pediatric). Thank you so much for taking time to help on this issue. I really appreciate the feedback.
