Shared Services with NP in hospital setting
I have read and understand the rules regarding billing of shared visits (e/m) in the hospital setting. What I am unclear on is whether these rules only apply to e/m or if a physician can bill under his own name for procedures such as central lines or intubations performed by the NP and only supervised by the MD. I have told our physicians these services should be billed under the NP name who is providing service, and have received some argument from them. I would appreciate any input.
