endo biopsy / E & M
I have a patient that came to the office for post menopausal bleeding. An endometrial biopsy was attempted but failed due to cervical stenosis. The patient was given other recommendations such as surgery (it was not scheduled but she did return to schedule). Can I bill 99212 as well as 58100 with the 53 modifier or can I only bill for the biopsy?
Thanks,
Ang
e/m and endo bx
You should be able to bill for the e/m code with a mod 25 and the endo bx with a mod 53. Remember to send the op report or office notes with the claim so the insurance company can see how much of the endo bx was performed before it was aborted.
