sacroiliac joint injection
The Doctor inserted needle into the right SI joint and injected patient with Dexamethasone. Can you please help me code this? This is a Medicare patient.
re: sacroiliac joint injection
You can bill Medicare as follow:
1) W/ Guidance: 27096 (Injection procedure for sacroiliac joint, anesthetic/steroid, w/ image guidance (U/S, Fluoro or CT) including arthrography).
If image guidance is used:
a) 76942 – U/S Guidance
b) 77002 – Fluoro Guidance
c) 77021 – CT Guidance
2) W/O Guidance: 20552 (Single or Multipule trigger points (1-2 Muscles))
No modifier is necessary for rt or lt side. You would use a 50 modifier for bilateral.
re: sacroiliac joint injection
I have seen a reference that states that Us guidance dose not apply to this code and that the trigger point code should be used.
Can we bill the 20552 with 76942? To bill for an ultrasound guided SI joint injection?
