billing 17003 to medicare

When billing 17003 to Medicare, do we use units and is there a separate charge for each unit or is 17003 one standard reimbursement no matter how many units?

re: billing 17003 to medicare

CPT® 17003 would not be billed in units, 17003 is an add-on code which represents 2-14 lesions. Please see below;

17000:Destruction (eg, laser surgery, electrosurgery, cryosurgery, chemosurgery, surgical curettement), premalignant lesions (eg, actinic keratoses); first lesion

17003 + Destruction (eg, laser surgery, electrosurgery, cryosurgery, chemosurgery, surgical curettement), premalignant lesions (eg, actinic keratoses); 2-14 lesions, each (List separately in addition to code for first lesion)

17004 Destruction (eg, laser surgery, electrosurgery, cryosurgery, chemosurgery, surgical curettement), premalignant lesions (eg, actinic keratoses), 15 or more lesions.

I hope this helps. Best wishes!
