What is the best CPT code to bill for excision of "buttock" lipoma.

Last week, I spoke at the American College of Surgeons meeting (sponsored by them and KarenZupko&Associates) and stayed for day two, which was brilliantly presented by Mary LeGrand.

She took the trouble to look in the Ortho section of the CPT book to find the excision codes for tumors. For back and flank, look in the 21930--21936 series of codes, and you can thank Mary if you see her!

Someone asked: when do you use the skin excision codes and when do you use these more complex, tumor removal codes. She said it depended on the origin of the lesion you are excising.

Look at the excision codes
