26 Modifier/Radiology

Is the 26 modifier portion of the RVU components always for professional radiologists that read on behalf of a facility?

Specifically, if a radiologist is reading for a freestanding facility, are they always entitled to the 26 portion of the Facilities Practice Management Expense?

Modifier 26 (Professional component) is used when the physician only provides the interpretation for the X-Ray. It is inappropriate to append modifier 26 if the physician owns his own equipment, that would be billed globally. One of the requirements when billing for the professional component alone is that the physician must dictate a complete interpretation in a separate report signed and dated.
