In home mental health visits

I am a PMHNP who contracts with the VA to treat fee basis/community care patients. I saw one of their patients for an initial assessment in his home followed by 3 additional visits. For all those appts I used 12 as POS. For the initial visit I coded 99205; subsequent appts I coded 90837 and 90832. Those are codes I use for the same services performed in my office and am consistently paid by the VA for those codes. However, the VA tells me for POS 12 I have to use different CPT® codes to be reimbursed and that they are not allowed to tell me what those codes are. They referred me to Codapedia!! What CPT® codes would you suggest for in home psychotherapy? Thank you, Ann

re: In home mental health visits

Interesting, there are separate home-visit E&M codes for new patients (99341-99345) and established patients (99347-99350). However, the psychotherapy codes should be valid for all places of service, including 12.
